About our organization

Mission

  • Train police canines and handlers: The association's primary mission is to train police canines and their handlers for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

  • Provide public information: The organization seeks to educate the public about the work of police K9 units.

  • Support K9 program: A key goal is to support the needs of the K9 unit through various means, such as providing funding for training, equipment, and the ongoing expenses of retired police dogs. 

Values

  • Commitment to quality training: The association values providing the best possible training for police dogs and handlers to ensure their effectiveness and safety.

  • Community partnership: They work to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community by fostering awareness and support for the K9 program. Also assisting in the community, schools, and various events.

  • Sustained support: They are dedicated to supporting the well-being of K9s throughout their careers and into retirement, including assistance with care for their retired partners.

  • Resourcefulness: By holding fundraising events, they raise crucial funds to support the K9 program.
